IT Support Trainee / Junior – Hobart

We are currently seeking the services of a keen IT Support Trainee who is confident, has great people skills and who thrives in a busy environment.

The successful applicant will be required to:

  • Provide desktop support to all members of staff, including volunteers.
  • Assist with the deployment and maintenance of desktops, notebook computers and servers.
  • Assist with the administration and maintenance of network services.
  • Develop an understanding of our call centre processes.

This is a busy and demanding role, which will require you to be familiar with a number of operating systems and office productivity applications. If you have a proven track record in a similar role, or are looking to move into a front-line IT position for the first time, we would love to hear from you. This is a full-time permanent position.

Position Profile

The position will be permanent, full-time. Hours will nominally be 8:30am to 5:00pm, Monday - Friday.

Responsibilities

  • To discharge the role of IT Support Officer, as directed by the IT Manager, relating to:
  • Provide IT support for all members of staff, including volunteers
  • Assist with administration and maintenance of IT infrastructure
  • Assist with operation and maintenance of the Association’s Websites
  • Assist with the documentation of systems and procedures

Desktop Support

  • Provide front-line desktop support as requested by RGDA staff. This support to include Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office.
  • In addition, support will include all internally developed applications, and any other applications that are in general use or otherwise designated from time-to-time.
  • Desktop support issues are to be resolved as a matter of priority.
  • Rebuild and reconfigure desktop systems as required for optimal performance and stability.
  • Refer issues to the IT Manager for further action as necessary

Commercial Department

  • Provide priority support upon request to all telemarketing operators. This will include issues with the telemarketing system software, workstations and telephony systems.
  • Refer issues to the IT Manager for further action as necessary

Websites

  • Assist in publishing content to the Association’s Website.
  • Generate reports for relevant departments on site hits, registered users and other reports as directed from time-to-time

IT Infrastructure

  • Assist in maintaining up to date system and application software, particularly where security issues and updates are concerned.
  • Assist with the day-to-day administration of linux servers.
  • Monitor network infrastructure to provide information for planning upgrades and also for accurate allocation of costs.

Documentation

  • Assist with the documentation of all systems and procedures relating to the Association's infrastructure

Professional Development

  • Participate in the development, implementation and review of an ongoing professional development program.
  • Participate in seminars, conferences and training as required by the defined program.
  • Participate in structured and unstructured training while on-the-job.
  • Participate in a periodic performance and professional development review as agreed from time-to-time or annually

Teamwork

  • Make a positive contribution to the IT department and the Association.
  • Attend and contribute to team meetings, departmental meetings, specific technology briefings and training

Mandatory Requirements

  • An interest in pursuing a career in information technology or a related field.
  • Completed, or completing Tasmanian Year 12.
